I am feeling-based. Like re-arranging furniture in a room, there are many ways of ordering the application of paint on canvas. Some artists determine that the most distant point be laid in first, others finish each section from top to bottom, and, some enter their darks first and work tonally toward the lighter colors. Those methods all assume the artist has a pretty good idea of the end product. I do not paint with an outcome in mind. I start with a feeling and try to organize the painting so the feeling is maintained and enhanced. It may not be the best approach, but (like walking the labyrinth) it eventually gets me to the centre.

You can see in this photo I also create smaller works while a larger piece is in progress.
The yellow pink and blue beach and water are now in readiness for me to focus on other symbols. Like a narrative, this piece continues to be about loss, sadness or struggle; the original but now-absent bird from the first post, was a symbol of that. If this sky and sea landscape is about death, what will be my view upon arising from that sleep?
